Into the wild!

We start early because a big adventure is waiting for us: we will use dug-outs, just like the local people, to get into the Okawango Delta. We will spend two days and two nights there. Words cannot describe our impressions. The pictures will tell the story. So far we have been in Africa, now we have become part of it.

Wake-up call! Storing the equipment!
Ready to go... Into the boats...

In the many branches of the Okawango several seats got wet;
but the boating trip through the silence
of this unique habitat is also a journey to your inner self. ...

Our camp in the Okawango delta. No campground, just pure nature.
Hard work, rationed food, one becomes part of nature.
Will the elephants visit our camp today?

Tonight, after a breathtaking sunset, a thin but extended cloud cover prevents us from watching the sky. This gives us time to enjoy the romantic life at the campfire and to learn more about our hosts and their culture. Besides that we notice that civilisation has left its traces even here. Lights, like from a little town, make the sky bright. Light pollution, even here. What a pitty. Later we find out that bushfires have been the reason.

Sunset at Okawango. Pictures like this one are simply part of Africa.

We experience Africa: with local food and dances at the campfire.

A wonderful experience. Here stress takes a break. Having become part of nature, the music of the jungle helps many of us to quickly fall asleep.
